Job Description:

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Counsellor to join our team in Birmingham. The successful candidate will provide a range of counselling services to our clients, including individual and group therapy, as well as psychoeducation and support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct initial assessments of clients’ mental health and wellbeing, developing treatment plans as appropriate
• Provide individual and group counselling sessions to clients, using evidence-based therapies such as CBT and person-centred counselling
• Deliver psychoeducation and support to clients, helping them to develop coping strategies and improve their mental health and wellbeing
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as GPs and psychiatrists, to ensure integrated care for clients
• Maintain accurate records of counselling sessions and progress made by clients
• Participate in ongoing professional development and training, ensuring that skills and knowledge are up-to-date
• Adhere to professional ethical and legal standards in the provision of counselling services

Requirements:

• A recognised counselling qualification, such as a Diploma or Master’s degree in Counselling
• Accreditation with a professional counselling body, such as BACP or UKCP
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a counselling role, with experience of working with clients with a range of mental health issues
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Empathy and compassion for clients
• Understanding of the principles of person-centred care
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations related to counselling services
• Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
